Since Twitter only allows 140 characters, and there's an unwritten rule on Facebook for posting no more than one meaningful post each day, I figured it was time to start my own blog, which I'll call "C" for short. In the past week, I've discovered two blogs I thoroughly enjoy reading. I have to give both of them credit for inspiring me to put my thoughts in writing.
The big news this week is that John and I are celebrating our one year anniversary on February 28! Many exciting things have happened over the past year. After the wedding, we honeymooned in Maui where I successfully passed my third round of kidney stones. The part of the trip I remember was fabulous, and John said he enjoyed spending some time alone at the bar while I slept through the pain.
We're happily settled into our house and only have one major renovation project ongoing. I'll spare you the details about the closet and laundry room for now, but I hope to post before/after photos soon. Last summer we (and by "we" I mean John) added to the existing landscaping. The new rock edging and mulch made a huge difference, so our (his) hard work really paid off.

We met some great Aggie friends in Tulsa last year, but they will be moving to Houston to pursue bigger endeavors in March. We will miss drinking Shiraz, beating them in poker, and hanging out almost every weeknight and weekend, but I know we'll stay in touch. John and I are excited to have another excuse to visit Texas too.
We'll miss you, Lara and Ryan!
Our pups, Zachry and Logan, are on their way to becoming well-behaved little boys. The $70 we spent for training at Companion Dog School of Tulsa was worth every penny. They still have a lot of "puppy" in them, but I enjoy having them at home with me all day while I work. We went through a spell last year when Logan chewed off Zach's collars. I woke up one morning to find this note from "Logan". We were feeding them Royal Canin at the time, and Zach's nickname is bean-head because his head is so tiny.
They have amazing internal time clocks that alarm at 11:45 a.m. for lunch and a potty break. (I won't elaborate on Logan's 5:15 a.m. alarm clock. Go to sleep, Logie!) They also make excellent guard dogs with their ferocious sounding barks. Unfortunately, I think the only damage Zach would do is licking someone to death, while Logan hides in his bed. They have very distinct personalities: Zach is excitable, outgoing, and curious, while Logan is timid, sweet, and a fast-learner. We're happy we adopted them, and I think they've decided to keep us.

I'll probably update "C" weekly, so stay tuned for more on my favorite super-easy crockpot recipes and pictures from our upcoming anniversary vacation to Grand Cayman. We've had a big first year...
